Vela

Vela is a unique card game, in which you create groups of cards called "tricks", in order to score the highest possible number of points. Every card has a landscape, element and season, and each of these aspects affects how many points are awarded for a trick. In addition, there are 22 celestial phenomena which can multiply a trick's total score, often in surprising ways! There are 4 rounds, each with 12 deals. In every new game the deck is random, offering virtually infinite replayability.

Vela is a solitaire game, slow-paced and relaxing. It requires a mixture of luck and strategy: do you grab immediately every phenomenon card you see, or do you gamble and leave them for the next rounds to see whether you can score higher value combinations? Are you willing to lose points with a negative phenomenon multiplier, but receive that big bonus at the end of the hand for using all the cards in tricks? Your personal playing strategy will evolve as you play.

Vela is derived from the 1991 original "Heaven & Earth" PC game, with permission from the original copyright holder. This game has held a special place in my heart for decades since I was a child, and I wanted to remake and preserve it, both for myself and for others.

I am the sole developer and artist behind Vela. No AI tools were used for any purpose in the making of this game. This is a labor of love, appreciation and nostalgia. I hope you enjoy it.
